What's New On Lake Travis

Planning the Perfect Lake Day

By August 15, 2018No Comments

Finally! It’s the news you’ve been waiting for from your boss. Your vacation time has been approved and all you think of is Lake Travis fun in Devil’s Cove, ice cold beer, friends and that party barge rental. There’s so much to do, supplies to get and people to invite… where do you begin?

Prepping for that perfect day on Lake Travis can really make or break your vacation day or week. And you’ve worked way too hard to let that happen! But as exciting as it can be, it can also be a little overwhelming. So let’s break it down with some basic planning tools, shall we?

First and foremost, making a list is one of the most important planning tools you have. Because, well let’s face it… how often do we tell ourselves, “I’ll write it down later” and then we forget. Keep a notepad nearby when you get those iconic ideas and write it down!

No outing is complete without a guestlist. Knowing how many guests is a key component to make everything else fall into place. And guest can’t respond if they have no idea they’re invited, when or where the event is. Get the word out and ask for an RSVP. Then you can better tally up the required supplies and how much room or lake toys you’ll need.

TIP: Consider giving your guest a choice of entertainment, refreshments and maybe ask for a volunteer designated driver for when the day’s fun ends.

Remember the little – but important – things. It never fails. Those trivial items can inconvenience everyone the most. Here are a few items, but you can always add your own.

  • Ice

  • Towels

  • Batteries

  • First Aid kit

  • Identification

  • Suntan lotion

  • Spare clothes

  • Phone charger

  • Zip Lock® bags

  • OTC Medications

  • Prescription Medications

If you or your friends run out or forget incidental items like ice, beer and soda, lotion and more – no worries! The Northshore Marina Ship Store has you covered. We carry everything from food and refreshments to common marine parts, clothing, towels and bandaids. While you’re there, gas up your boat for the cheapest premium gas on Lake Travis!

If a boat rental is part of your lake plans, there are a couple things you will need to know. Northshore Marina requires operators of the boat or PWC rental have completed a Boater’s Education Certification prior to rental reservations. Additionally, be sure to reserve the rental of your choice well in advance. This especially true during peak vacationing times like holidays and summertime. Verify your rental reservations and confirm boat rental capacities align with the amount of guests you’re expecting.
